Citrus Lane review Feb 2014

If you are generally amazed by the professional quality and sheer awesomeness of my pics, I'm sorry to say you will be disappointed today.
The pics are less than stellar. 

Pickles had been waiting all day for me to
get home from work to open his "Lane" box;
he could have just burst with excitement.
To make the poor child wait for me to take
pictures of everything was just cruel and unusual punishment.

February's box had great stuff in it.

The first item was a gift for mom. Very cool.
Green Apple Age Defy Hand Cream.
The hand cream is lovely and smells more citrus to me than apple.
And if there is one thing I need to do more of, it's defy my age.

Next we have the Tie-Up Shoe.
This was the star of the show.

It's a little wooden shoe with shoelace holes to thread through.
Nikolas had to stop and focus on this one. 

It did not take long before Pickles
realized the shoe could be used as a melee weapon.

I took the shoe away and handed Nik the Storage bin.
It didn't look like something that could be played with, so Nik had that disappointed look on his face

I explained that the storage bin could hold
Hot Wheels, dinosaurs etc, and then he was hooked.
He wanted to fill it with treasures right away.I personally have my own love affair with containers, so I can fully understand Nik's excitement when discovering the monkey could actually hold his stuff.

It's quite sturdy.
Handles on both sides, cute ears and a lined inside. 

The box also contained another Barefoot book.
Skip through the Seasons.
Nik loves searching puzzles so this was right up his alley.
Not sure why Citrus Lane is only focusing on Barefoot in the last few boxes.
Disappoint.

Citrus Lane review Jan 2014

Citrus Lane's January box made Nikolas very happy. 

The shipping box had the same design on it as December's box. 

I love the white snowflake look. 

Nik grabbed for the markers first. 
These bad boys are double sided and major super awesome bonus, 
they are washable.

The box also contained an activity book.
Very age appropriate. We have not used this yet.

The upset tummy & nausea relief was my favorite item.
I just adore when Citrus Lane sends us things
Nik can use in the tub; lotions and herbal medicines,
their next addition should be kid lip-balm.

They also included a card for 20% off at Ruby Ribbon.
It appears to be another "start your own business" kit.
Buy-our-starter-bundle-and-sell-the-items-to-your-friends kind of thing. 

The best item in the entire box is a wooden assorted fruit 
set that can be cut into halves. 

This set comes with a wooden knife and bag to hold
all of your toddlers wooden fruit paraphernalia, 

as well as three pieces of fruit with very strong Velcro in the middle. 

Nik found the fruit-cutting to be extremely fascinating.
It kept him busy for quite some time.

The Velcro is strong so your toddler
will have to work to get that knife through. 

I explained to Pickles that he should not be cutting his fruits in his lap,
 as that showed a serious lack of basic knife safety and knife fundamentals.
His response "wha?".

Citrus Lane review Dec 2013

I'm just going to come right out and say it, 

Citrus Lane's Dec box was less than stellar. 

Nik was super excited right away. He pulled out the
handprint art kit and handed it to me.

When he saw there was only a book, a paper and some lotion,
Nik was disappointed. 

Sad face.  "no toys?"

Once he noticed that there was a puzzle in the box all was good again.

According to Nik this puzzle is fun,
and he loves that the pieces stand up on their own. 

The book we received is awesome.
This book has become a regular in the nighttime book rotation. 

Pickles thinks it's comical that the moon has arms and legs. 

The hand print art is fabulous.
I'm always looking for new ways to preserve Nik's early years.
I love Pearhead, and am already an owner of many of their photo albums.

Of course we used the hand print kit right away.
We received the box right before Christmas and this made for a beautiful gift.
(I added a little extra periwinkle to the provided blue paint, the color is not a true representation of the color in the kit)

The box also contained a Snuggly lotion.
We have received products from this company in previous box's.
We are fans of their stuff. This lotion has a lovely cherry smell. 

Our overall impression of this box is meh.
Nik loves the puzzle and we enjoyed doing the pearhead print,
but this box lacked the usual pizzazz.

Citrus Lane review Nov 2013

I have decided that I did not want 

November's Citrus Lane box to be a "spoiler". 

I almost busted at the seams to blog about this box, but I just could not stand the thought of the surprise being ruined for other families. 

So I waited this time to post.. 

Poor Pickles. 

The box came while I was at work, 

he had to wait all day to discover the contents. 

This box contained:

Build-A-Sandwich from Green Toys

Lunch Tote from Bumkins

Beeswax Crayons & Doodle Pad from Faber-Castell

Organicasaurus Baked Organic Corn snack from Good Boy Organics

Four sets of address labels & free shipping from Tiny Prints

Once he saw there were snacks he 

had to try one before we went any further.

I asked Nik to sit quietly for just a moment so a 

pic could be taken of all the great stuff in his box.

He sat for a sec then declared "done waiting" and went for the snacks. 

He just couldn't take the pressure!

Nik reviewed all the other things available in the box. 

He loved the colors and doodle pad. 

These crayons from Faber-Castell are amazing! 

They are so vivid and blend really well.

The gluten-free snacks were a big hit with Nik! 

It's always difficult to find healthy snacks 

that don't taste like cheese cardboard.

The Build-A-Sandwich from Green Toys 

was by far the winner in the popularity contest.

As soon as Nik pulled it out of the box he said 

"oh cool Burger King!".

This was a great addition to Nik's play kitchen. 

 The safety info did give me a giggle. 

I can understand putting this in the dishwasher, but the microwave? 

Everybody knows plastic sandwiches taste better cold anyways.

 

In addition to all the other wonderful items there is a card from Tiny Prints. 

I have used Tiny Prints in the past and they are pretty awesome. 

The only downside to this offer is you must spend $99 to take advantage.

The bumpkins lunch bag is not pictured because Nik 

insisted it needed to take its place in the kitchen immediately. 

This bag is going to be perfect for toting snacks around. 

Overall we loved this box. A home run for Citrus Lane

Citrus Lane review Oct 2013 - Spoiler

Spoiler Alert! Oct 2013 Citrus Lane box - If you don't want to know the contents of the Oct Citrus Lane box, do not read ahead; even if there are cute pics down there.  

The box was a lovely shade of pink for breast cancer awareness month. 
Pickles was so excited for this box. He opened it, removed the yellow paper and started saying

"toys, oh toys!".  And "happy birfday Nik".  

It's not his birthday.

This box contained some great items:

 Dreamz & Twinkies To Go from Cloud B
Rhythm Sticks from Hohner Kids
BOPS from Good Boy Organics
Lady Bug Magazine from Cricket Magazine Group & Digital subscription

Pickles immediately grabbed for the toys and the chips.

My first thought was, "Sea Salt chips for kids?". 

But as soon as he tried them he was hooked. 

Plus, they have a cool flatness to them which allowed 

Pickles to stack them in his hand.

The Dreamz & Twinkies nightlight was a big hit. 

He used the nightlight tonight and loved it. 

It shines fish, stars and things on the ceiling and turns blue or green. 

After checking out the light, he needed more chips.

Pickles got funky with the rhythm sticks and reviewed the Ladybug magazine. The Rhythm sticks are awesome, but I'm afraid he may use one as a weapon against the cats or the TV. 

So, I placed those in the supervised play bin for later.

Overall, the Ladybug magazine appeared to be full of kid-friendly 

content, stories, games, paper doll cut-outs etc.

Cricket Magazine Group also included a 3 month online subscription and a deal on the mailed magazine.

The box itself contained pink mustache pop-outs, complete with the reason.

 Overall, this was a great box, and we both loved it!
(Especially the chips!)
